Concurrent editing

When you edit the same flow in more than one place, Langflow prevents one save from silently replacing another. If the flow changed after you opened it, your edits stay on the canvas until you review both versions and choose how to continue.

Prerequisites

  • Langflow 1.13 or later.
  • A flow you can edit. If the flow is locked, unlock it first.
  • To follow the example on this page, open the flow in two browser tabs before making any changes.

Try concurrent editing

To demonstrate how Langflow protects concurrent work, do the following:

  1. Open the same flow in two browser tabs.

  2. In the first tab, change the canvas, and then wait for auto-save or press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on macOS).

  3. In the second tab, make a different canvas change and save it.

  4. The Review changes banner appears, and the second save is refused because it was based on the older flow. Your edits remain on the canvas and auto-save pauses. The first tab's saved version is not overwritten.

If another account saved last, the Review changes banner displays the username. If both tabs use your account, the banner reads A newer version of this flow is available.

  5. Click Review changes. The Review Version Changes dialog opens.

  6. Review Your changes. Under Available changes, select any changes from the saved version that you want to include. If you select no available changes, the result contains only your changes.

  7. Resolve each row marked Conflict. A conflict means both versions changed the same component. You can select Keep my version, or the version named for the user who saved it.

  8. Select an option for saving the changes:

    • Click Update Current Flow to save the selected result to the original flow. Langflow first puts the version being replaced in Version History, and then auto-save resumes.
    • Click Duplicate Flow to create a private copy with the selected result. The original flow remains unchanged. The copy has no endpoint name, MCP exposure, webhook, or lock.
    • Click Load Latest if you no longer want your current canvas to be the active version. Langflow saves your canvas in Version History, and then loads the version on the server.

To decide later, click Cancel. The banner remains and auto-save remains paused until you resolve the changes.

Restore your work after closing the tab

Langflow stores refused edits in your browser so they can survive a reload or a closed tab.

To restore your work in a flow, do the following::

  1. Open the flow again.
  2. In the Unsaved changes from banner, click Restore.
  3. Re-enter any secret values. Saved edits do not save secrets.

To remove the stored copy, click Discard.
